Today, there are lots of social networking sites where you can sign up and start building social connections with other people of same profession/community or like mind. You can have your account in the sites like Twitter , Facebook, Friendfeed etc.

Google social search enables you to find publicly available content from your social circle in Google search. This search is based on the social circle you have on various social networking sites. For e.g. if you have an account in twitter and following 100 people from there, Google will consider your account and your connections too. In other words,Google pulls different pieces of your social circle together in a single place.

Google surface social content are found in various ways, majorly 3 ways:

- Google Profile Page: In Google profile, you can share your information with the world publicly; this also includes your various online services. For example, you can add your twitter accounts, blogs, FriendFeed account etc. Adding this information to Google profile page, you give signals to Google to surface all the social content from there and display in its social search results.

- Google chat: The second way for Google to add your social circle is Google chat buddies. If you have 30 buddies in your Google chat, they will be added to your social graph too.

- Google Reader: Google Reader is also one of the ways for Google to surface web content from your social circle.For example, if you have subscribed to a blog in Google Reader, then Google can display a post from that blog in your social search results.
