Google Sidewiki is a new tool launched by Google recently. The tool is designed in a way that people can comment on a specific website mentioned in the sidebar. It works with internet explorer and Firefox, being integrated in new version of Google toolbar. But, till now it does not work with Google Chrome.
You have to download the new version of toolbar initially to use Google Sidewiki.
This new tool allows you to comment on entire webpage or part of it. Once this tool is installed, the comments can easily be exchanged with public through Twitter, e-mail, Facebook or directly. People can read the Sidewiki comments even though they have not installed Sidewiki. The entry made appears on the original page besides other added features.
Sidewiki entries are written in a particular order which is determined by the Google.
This latest development of Google Sidewiki thus writes high quality entries first rather than recent entries taking into consideration various parameters like large-scale graph computing and others. Besides this, API has also been launched by Google. It would help people work freely with Sidewiki content.
There are various other encouraging applications of Sidewiki not forgetting the negative applications. Sidewiki is vulnerable to abuse when it comes to spasm; though any of the search engines is open to abuse. Undoubtedly, this new tool called Sidewiki can be useful if controlled properly.
