Site speed- Another ranking factor added by Google
[2010-04-09]Site speed- Another ranking factor added by Google
Until now, you must be concentrating in adding more complex codes and graphics to attract visitors to your website, but now you will have to think upon the website speed as Google announced today that it has started considering site speed as one of the factors for wesite ranking. In other words, optimized site speed would be helpful to increase your website's ranking over Google. This news should not be of much surprise to everyone as Google has been talking about if for quite some time. But now Google has added this factor officially in the list of their other 200 ranking factors(approx.).However,Google also advice webmasters not to loose the site's relevancy for the sake of improving site speed as this factor
is going to impact very few queries.Relevancy and other important ranking factors would still remain dominant.
There are 2 ways for Google to measure page speed:
1) How a page responds to Googlebot
2) Load time measured by Google Toolbar
Matt Cutts, head of Google’s web spam team says “This change affects outliers; we estimate that fewer than 1% of queries will be impacted. If you’re the best resource, you’ll probably still come up.”
